About:Changchun Travel

Hi,
I have been in ChangChun for few days now and start to realise it's hard especially when I am a hopeless Chinese illiterate and cant understand a word anywhere. Help. Is there some places, gatherings where I can find or meet or see english speaking people gathering around as I really like to know more and can at least communicate.

Also I have been trying cafe where I can relax with latte , as I am so stresses just listening to the traffic madness outside. Why do people horn so much here? I cant seem to find Gloria Jeans, Starbucks, or anything similar here. Help me if there are such places, even if it's localised cafe, will do for me too.

Lost man.

Hello Mr. Kev,
There is a MayFlower Bar in Changchun, the address is at 1933, Jiefang Street. They have another bar at 1481, the cross of Mudan Road and Ziyou Road. You might meet some westweners there.

Changchun is home to a surprisingly large number of Western-style bars and clubs. However, when one measures the bars according to quality rather than quantity the number starts to decline somewhat. One of the main bar scenes is located on Yihe Lu (义和路) as well as a strip of bars on Longli Lu (隆礼路). However, as most expats who’ve spent a fair time in China have probably discovered, many bars along infamous “bar streets”, smothered in neon lights and with suspicious looking bar maids leave a lot to be desired. To avoid stumbling into the first dodgy bar you see, we’ve compiled a list of some of Changchun’s favourite expat watering holes.

3 Monkeys
Formerly known as Cheers Bar, Three Monkeys received a thorough face life and re-opened in early 2009. Designed by British, American and Italian architects, the bar only plays Western music and has English ale and Irish stout on its menu. The bar also brags a pool table and outdoor terrace, popular with expats in the Summer.

Ferry Port Bar 渡口酒吧
This bar too also been revamped recently, its dingy interior replaced by a warm, friendlier decor. Ferry Port Bar is a popular after-work hangout with local expats. It’s chilled out atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for catching up with friends over a cold beer.

The Second Home
This bar opposite the Shangri-la hotel is a popular destination among the expat community in Changchun. A live band performs regularly and the bar’s beer menu is quite extensive. Cosy, warm and intimate, Second Home Bar easily lives up to its name.
