Can I use the 24-hour Visa-Free Transit in Beijing in 2 different airports?

Hi, I would like to ask a question specifically about my flight itinerary, which is booked in one ticket with the same PNR, both flights are with Air China. I have Vietnamese passport so I'm not eligible for 240-hour transit without visa.

1. 2 Sep 2026, Hanoi to PEK Beijing Capital Intl. T3
2. 3 Sep 2026, PKX Beijing Daxing Intl. to Milan.

The total transfer time in Beijing is 18 hours, but they are different airports, so I need to exit PEK and enter PKX the next day. Can I apply for 24-hour Visa-Free Transit and enter Beijing? Thanks a lot.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Here is what you should do in the exact order:

- Before the flight you will print out your flight tickets (ticket confirmations). This is so much easier than handling the tickets over the mobile phone. You should have your flight tickets at hand in both Vietnam and in Beijing.
- Also, before departure you will fill out Chinese arrival card online through China National Immigration administration (NIA) website!
- At the moment of check-in in Vietnam you will present your flight tickets and declare that you are traveling to Milan via China (Beijing) under 24 hour visa free transit scheme. After a short check, you will be issued a boarding pass for your flight to Beijing.
- Upon landing in Beijing the first thing you will do is to perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine.
- After fingerprinting you will proceed to 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for the temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets. This is free of any charge. After a short check you will be granted a temporary entry permit because you have to enter China formally because you have two different airports within your itinerary.
- After you have obtained a temporary entry permit you will proceed to the immigration.
- After immigration you will collect your luggage and proceed outside of PEK airport.
- You will have an overnight or whatever and then you will transfer to PKX airport.
- Upon arrival at PKX airport you will look after the check-in counters for your flight to Milan.
- After you have checked the luggage you will cross the security check (metal detector and the stuff), then exit immigration and finally head to the gate for your flight to Milan.

This is it. Have a wonderful journey.
