About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I am a Canadian passport holder currently resident in Singapore. I need to apply for a Chinese business (F visa) for travel to Shanghai next week. I have reviewed the list of documents required for a business visa but have a question. Can I provide either (1) a letter from the host company in Shanghai, or (2) a visa confirmation letter from an economic and trade bureau or a foreign affairs office of a provincial or municipal government? Is either of these acceptable? I am confused as the China Embassy website in Canada states that either is acceptable, whereas the China Embassy in Singapore only mentions (2), the visa confirmation letter. I am assuming either given that I am a Canadian citizen and passport holder? I am looking to apply for the business visa on a 'rush' or 'expediated' basis as I need to leave for Shanghai on Saturday.

Thanks,
Julianne

Ms.JBRYANT, you'd better provide the two documents together, which can ensure that you successfully obtain a China business visa (F). For Canadian applicants, the visa regulation is not strict, so either of the two documents is accepted by Chinese embassy in Canada, however, in Singapore, the visa regulations become strict, the visa confirmation letter from an economic and trade bureau or a foreign affairs office of the provincial or municipal government is required. If you just provide the invitation letter from the host company in Shanghai, maybe the visa officer will refuse your application and asks for the visa confirmation letter.
