About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I'm Taiwanese citizen in the US trying to go to China the beginning of April. I lost my Taiwanese ID but I have my Taiwanese passport and all my documents for my visa/I-20 in the US. I'm living in North Carolina now but I went to school in Indiana. I have a few questions and I really appreciate your help in advance.

1. Which embassy should I go to, does it matter which one I go to?
2. Since i lost my Taiwanese ID, would I still need that to apply for the travel visa?(tungshing chun) I've never applied for a Taibao chun.)
3. Do I have to apply for it in persons?
4. How long and how much does it cost-for the fastest turn around time.

Mr.CHUNLILIN,
1. you should go to Chinese embassy in Washington DC to apply for China Travel Document, North Carolina is under its consular jurisdiction.
2. You should apply for Travel Document of PRC rather than Chinese visa.
3. You may submit the application to the Visa Office of the Embassy, If you cannot come in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to drop off your application at the visa office of the Embassy
No appointment is required.
Mailed applications are not acceptable and will be returned.
4. The regular processing time is 4 working days.

Hi Mr. Nash,

I see, I appreciate the info.
What is the fastest turn around time? On the embassy website it said that it could be done in a day if I pay a premium for it is that true?

Secondly, so even if all my visa documents in the US is from my college where I graduated from last May in Indiana, I still go to the one in DC since I live and work here now?

Thanks a ton!

Mr.CHUNLILIN, yes, you can pick up the Travel Document of PRC within the same day if you pay extra 30$ (applications shall be presented before 12:30pm may be picked up between 2:30pm-3:00pm on the same day)

I think that you can still go to the China embassy in Washington DC because you work and live in North Carolina.
