About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I'm an American living in Japan. I want to travel to China for a few days. Is going to the Chinese embassy in Tokyo the only way to get a visa? If I have to go to the embassy, I have to take off 2 days from work - one to bring my passport and another day to pick it up. Is it possible to mail it? Are there any other options?

Ms.J, do you live in the consular districts of Chinese Embassy in Tokyo, please pay attention to the consular districts on this webpage https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/japan.htm

As I know, all Chinese embassy or consulates in Japan doesn't accept visa application by mailing, if you can't come to the embassy or consulate, you can entrust a travel agency to apply on your behalf, but you need pay extra fee for their service.
