About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Hello,
I am married to a Chinese national. We got married December 2009 in Hefei, the capital in her home state of Anhui. She has been living in Guangzhou for 6 years now. I would like to live with her, in China, starting in May/June 2010. We are expecting a baby in September of 2010. I will be working with her at her wholesale clothes business and I also wish to teach English either through an organization there or privately.

My question is this, I wish to obtain a permit to live in China for at least two years...or for an indefinite amount of time. What part of "Regulations on Permanent Residence of Aliens in China" is pertinent to my situation?
What is my next step before I leave for China in May/June? I live by Chicago, Illinois and there is a Chinese Consulate here...anything I need to do with them?

Mr. angelo, spouses of Chinese citizens, whose marriage has lasted for five years, and who have lived in China for five years in a row, the annual stay in China being no shorter than nine months, and who have stable and secured living status and place to live, can apply for Permenent Residence Permit, now, you can't satisfy this condition.

Now, you find a school to teach English, then obtain a work visa to enter in China, then go through procedures for obtaining temporary residence permit in the local public security bureau within 30 days of entry. Generally speaking, the temporary residence permit is valid till the expiry of your contract.

Thank you for the information Mr. Adam.

Can I gain employment in my wife's business and then be eligible for temporary residence permit?

Mr.angelo, it is hard for you to get a work visa in your wife's business because you have to provide work permit and a Visa Notification Form issued by an authorized Chinese department for work visa application, your wife's wholesale clothes business can't get the two documents for you, so you can't get a temporary residence.
