Also, which is cheaper in terms of transpotation from/to Beijing to Shanghai? by train or plane? How many hours travel if by train? Thanks a lot.

April will be warmer, and it is better to visit Beijing & Shanghai in this month. As for the transportation, it is cheaper to take a train, around 10 hours is needed for bullet trains.

Can you recommend a cheaper accommodation in Beijing and Shanghai preferably downtown area (near bus station or MTR station)?We are planning to travel in mainland China on our own without tourist guide like we did in HK and Macau. Do you think it would be easier for us?
