I've been told that noone speaks that noone speaks english in Shanghai.  Is it hard to travel around the city and the neighboring water towns like Suzhou without a guide? Also, what is the fastet and most convenient way to get to Suzhou from Shanghai?

Hi,Angela.I don't know who told you that none speaks English in Shanghai. He or she must be joking. Shanghai is a modern metropolis with lots of foreign residence. It is easy to travel around. To transfer between Suzhou and Shanghai, you can take bullet train, or the D train.
