Question

About:Shenzhen Travel

I'll be travelling in a quite big group with cousins and nephews, first we'll be taking the flight to Hongkong, and spend 3 nights there, then we plan to take TurboJet ferry to go to Macau from Sheung Wan, and spend 2 nights in Macau.
From Macau, we plan to take another ferry (TurboJet?) to Shenzhen directly. It will arrive in FuYong Ferry Terminal.

My questions:
1. How's the on-site visa application in Shenzhen Fu Yong ferry terminal...what would be the documentation required for this, do they need any photograph, and how much it is cost?
2. How far is Fu Yong ferry terminal to go to Lou Hu...we reserved the hotel at Holiday Inn express Lou Hu.
3. Is Holiday Inn Express Lou Hu a good hotel...? Any other recommendation on the area...? We want to go to Windows of the World and the normal shopping trip around Lou Hu.

Appreciate for your help...thanks.

1. Yes, you can handle on-site visa there. The fee is about 150yuan or so. Operating hours: 8:30--17:30. No need of pictures. You can just show your passport and fulfill an application card.
2. Take the free shuttle bus to the airport to look for the airport bus back to Luohu
3. The hotel is ok. It is an economical chain hotel. If you stay at luohu, you can take Subway Line 1 to the Window of the World, which will take you some 25 minutes to go.

Jerry,

Thanks for the response, appreciate it.
Several further clarifications:
1. how long do you think it would take, for the on-site visa application in Shenzhen Fu Yong ferry terminal? If it's like taking hours, we may want to process the visa application here in our country.
2. the Holiday Inn hotel...is it a walking distance to the Lou Hu shopping area?
3. what is the entrance cost for Window of the World per person? and beside that, what else to see in Shenzhen as we have 3 days to spend there...any suggestion?

Thanks,

HI Sandy,
As I know one hour is okay to apply for the on-site visa. However, in case of that the application is refused especially for the H1N1 recently, you'd better apply for a China Visa in your country before leaving. On the other hand, with a China Visa, you could go to any places in Shenzhen, not only the special economic zone limited by the on-site visa.

Yes, the hotel is very close to the commercial center of Luohu, also the famous Dongmen shopping area.

The entrance fee of WOW is 120RMB per person. Lots of places see in Shenzhen, such as the Splendid China, Happy Valley, Safari Park and Daxiao Meisha.

Jack, thanks for the response.
Yes, I understand for the risk on on-site visa application and the limitation, however, we don't plan to go anywhere else but Shenzhen and the application fee for a full-entry visa in Indonesia is way more expensive.
How's China's government official handle the H1N1 flu...i would think that it's going to be the same case as in HongKong or SIngapore where suspected people would need to be quarantine.

Thanks much for all the info, this is very helpful!

We haven't read any more serious H1N1 report in China recently. So, you could feel easy to come to China. Nice trip!

Mr. Jerry,

Visas are required for all foreigners entering mainland China. A standard tourist visa is valid for a 30-day visit. They can usually be obtained from Chinese embassies or consulates. Landing visa application at Shenzhen Airport Fu Yong Ferry Terminal has been suspended on 28 March 2008 until further notice.

Can anyone confirm this and if the visa office in Fuyong port is on service now?

thanks,
sandy
