Question

I am US citizen. I will be traveling to China in November 2009.  My travel will be both for business in Shenzhen and to meet with friends in Nanning, Guangxi Province.  The business Visa I know how to obtain because I go to China every year for the past 5 years.  I have developed a relationship with a Chinese woman I met in Shenzhen that lives in Nanning.  After I complete my one week of business in Shenzhen, I plan to travel to Nanning and visit my woman friend and her family and stay for at least 3 - 4 weeks.  Will my Business Visa be acceptable for tourism, or will I need to obtain a separate tourist visa?

You can just use your business visa for your visit purpose.
