About:Chinese Embassies in North America

Hi, I am travelling to Shanghai International Airport in early August and want to take the direct bus to Hangzhou. I don't speak Mandarin and was wondering if I would have a problem making myself understood getting the bus and then when I get to Hangzhou getting to my hotel by a taxi?

Please don't worry, the Shanghai Pudong Airport has striking marks both in English and in Chinese to guide your way to the bus station. In case, you could ask for help from the airport service staffs who will be found at every station.

When you take a taxi in Hangzhou, it is suggested that you write down your hotel name on a card or remember the hotel's telephone before leaving, then you could show it to your taxi driver.

You can ask someone at the service desk in the airport to write the Chinese name of your hotel on a piece of paper, then you can show it to the taxi driver,he'll take you to the hotel. You could always try to ask someone for help. Many people speak english well, especially college students
