About:Chinese Embassy in South Africa

Hello

I am a South African living in China, and my family would like to fly out to visit me sometime in the next few months. I know what the basic requirements are but have lately been told they need to prove they have something like US$100 per every day they plan to spend in China in order to get their visa! Is this true? Also I'm told that they need to show proof of hotel reservation - they will be staying with me and it would be a waste of money for them to book the hotel only for the sake of getting the visa.
Do they need to prove they have this impossible amount of money? What can they provide instead of proof of hotel booking?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Your family do have to provide the proof of enough money for their China trip such as their bank statement in the past three months.
As for the hotel reservation, it is not necessary. You could write an invitation letter enclosed with your valid address and contacts in China instead.
