As a foreigner, you cannot enter Tibet as an individual. If you want to visit Lhasa, you should apply for Tibet travel permit and join a group tour.
But you can visit Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Harbin and Guangzhou freely. Beijing is your first choice. It's the capital of China. There are many attractions well worth visitng in Beijing. You can visit the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven and the Badaling Great Wall. Shanghai is also very good. I think these destiantions are all very nice.
