About:China Visa

I have been accepted to an academic program in Beijing from August 5th to August 27th. I then have a job that starts in Guangzhou on September 1st. The job in Guangzhou will help me secure a work visa starting on September 1st. The issue is time. The academic program says I should get a tourist visa. Once the academic program ends, I am to go to Guangzhou, where my job will help me process a work visa via Hong Kong. But if the tourist visa only lasts 30 days, then won't my visa expire before I have the chance to get a new one. Another option might be to get a business visa for the academic program. In that case, I won't be pressed for time. But will it be okay for me to upgrade from a business visa to a work visa once I get to Guangzhou on August 28th? Any advice would be helpful Thank you!

It is okay that you get an F visa for your academic program. The duration of stay is 30 days (counting from the date of your entry August 5th).After the end of the academic program, you still have several days left to get your Z visa processed.
