About:Guangzhou Travel Guide

We intend to visit Guanzhou early June 2009. Can anyone recommend a good reasonable hotel not too expensive. Which area would you recommend?

For a group of 4 persons(3 adult and 1 10 yrs old child) would it cheaper to travel around with taxi or public transportation?

How far is it to Guillin from Guanzhou? What is the best transportation to Guillin?

Any good advice welcome.

I just got back from there. the mass transportation is great.The subway is in english and is easy to figure out. If you can the busses are only in chinese. The Green taxis are the best. the blue we had problems with .don't always rely on directions so ask many people along the way. out of area the train is good. we went to hong kong.it is a little pricey,but think in 15 cents U.S. to the 1.00 yuan. food was great and found that the little hole in the wall had the best b-b-q pork. carry toilet paper an klenex. regular toilets are there but mostly at the hotel.most hotels are fairly resonable but look around. watch your purse and carry your wallet in you front pocket. I heard that the long distant busses are good, didn,t ride on one.when in a taxi be prepared for very weird driving,, you will see. that is just the way they do it . Get your money exchanged.best is at a bank ..rate today is 6.83 to us dollar. you will get a little less.if you lose your exit visa paper they have extra at airport.drink bottle water,(is Best) and have a great time,i did.

best to take the train, i think its comfortable and convinient and cheap. if you want to take by air, you'd better book the ticket early coz the earlier the cheaper, sometimes up to 70%~80% off. by train it may take one night, by air it takes 1 hour atmost. There are some chain hotels in GZ, the price is quite reasonable, around 200yuan~300yuan for a standard room i think.
