Nathan, as a holder of the Greek refugee document, you are allowed to travel via China using 24 hour visa free transit, however, it does not mean that you are allowed to enter China. It is just a transit. For example, you can travel from Thailand to Japan via China and you do not need any kind of visa for the segment of your transit time spent in China, but under the condition that your entire transit time, counted from your scheduled arrival until your scheduled departure, is shorter than 24 hours. In case if your transit time in China is a long one, where passengers usually apply for a temporary entry permit to exit the airport, it is almost certain that you will be denied a permit because of your refugee travel document. However, you will be allowed to stay within the airport transit zone in an unobstructed way. I hope this explanation helps in your travel plans.
