Travelling on an UK Emergency Travel Document

Hi,

I may be travelling using an Emergency Travel Document for a layover in Shanghai Pudong.
I am a british national and my passport was damaged so I am applying for an ETD.
I am transiting through Shanghai for approx six hours, I will remain airside in terminal 1. (Melbourne > Shanghai > Budapest > London).
Do I need this visa or to apply for a different one?

Kate, if your ticket was bought as a single one (single booking) and you will stay airside in Shanghai, you can freely and with absolute peace of mind proceed with your travel plan. Those transiting in Shanghai airside are not subjects of immigration and/or customs inspections by Chinese authorities. They only formality you will perform will be a security check (metal detector and the stuff) between the two gates. Have a nice journey.
