About:China Visa

240 hour Visa Free Travel for Trip to Shenzhen and HK

My family is planning a trip to visit relatives in Shenzhen and Hong Kong in Dec 2026. Will we be qualify for the 240 hrs Visa free travel if we fly to Shenzhen, stay for 6 days, then catch the bus / train to HK, stay for a week then fly back from HK to US?

Or we need to have a plane ticket from US to Shenzhen to HK?

Also, is hotel reservation in Shenzhen needed in order for us to qualify for the 240 hr Visa free travel? There is a great possibility that we may be staying with relatives while we are in Shenzhen in stead of at a hotel.

So the plan is like US - flight to Shenzhen without a stopover in HK - HK - US? Yes, you are eligible for the 240h visa free transit and you will apply for it at Shenzhen airport with your booked bus/train ticket to HK (train tickets are much more reliable). Hotel reservation is not needed if you provide the ID number and phone number of your relatives and their address.
