Where will you come from before the cruise departing Shanghai? If it is not South Korea, then you will be eligible for 240-hour visa-free transit.

Similarly, where will you leave Shanghai for after the cruise? If it is not Japan, you will be eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit.

The core rule of the visa-free transit is that the immediate points before and afte Chinese Mainland are different countries or territories.
