22hr Layover- Colombian Passport

Trip: Sydney-Shanghai-Madrid
I am a Colombian citizen and I have a 22h layover in Shanghai, do I need to apply for a transit visa beforehand? Would I be able to leave the airport during this time or can I apply for an entry permit in the airport?

Your layover will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Also, you do not have to do anything in advance. Upon your landing you will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit (before that you will fill out arrival card and perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine) where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets and your hotel booking confirmation if you plan to stay in a hotel overnight. When your permit is approved, you will head to the immigration and then to the city to enjoy your time on your own. Have a nice visit to Shanghai.
