About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

20.5 hours in Shanghai

I am flying with my family (we're all Spanish) from Singapore to Madrid with a stop over in Shanghai. The plane lands at 4 in the morning in Shanghai and the next leg leaves at midnight. What should we apply for: 24h or 240 hour visa free. Since our stay will be at day hours we don't plan to book a hotel. Is this Ok? What address should we then mention on the arrival card?
Thanks

Daniel, you should not bother with 24/240 hour visa free transit stuff because the citizens of Spain are not the subjects of these rules. The citizens of Spain, along with the majority of EU countries enjoy visa free entry into China for a stay of up to 30 days. In other words, your short visit to China can be compared to the visit to UK. Also, you do not need a hotel booking since you are in a transit. Here is what will you do upon landing in Shanghai:

- Fill out an arrival card and tick the box on the arrival card where it is written - transit
- Perform a fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine and take a receipt
- Head to the immigration and proceed toward the city to enjoy your time on your own.

Have a nice visit to Shanghai.
