About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling from Sydney to Beijing with a lay over of 20 hours

Hi we’re travelling from Sydney to Beijing on an Australian Passport with a lay over of 20 hours before we fly onto another country. Do we need to apply for an entry permit and a 24 hour visa?

No, you do not. The citizens of Australia can enter, stay and explore China visa free for up to 30 days. The stuff like 24, 240 hour visa free transit, temporary entry permit and similar are not related to you. Upon your landing you will fill out arrival card (tick the box where it is written - transit), perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine and proceed to the immigration. When you have cleared an immigration you are free to enjoy your time on your own. Have a nice layover in Beijing.
