About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

visa 24 hours

Hello, I am a Colombian citizen with a work visa in Japan. I have a travel plan from Osaka, Japan, to Melbourne, Australia, with a stopover in Haikou, China. The stopover is 8 hours. My application for a visa to the United States of America was previously denied. According to the 24-hour transit time in China, can I apply for an 8-hour stopover without a visa?

Andres, you are obviously flying on HU772 / HU483. The most important detail is that you do not need any kind of visa because your flight itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. So, at the time of your check-in in Osaka, you will declare that you are traveling to Melbourne via China (Haikou) under 24 hour visa free transit scheme. Here you will present your flight tickets and after a short time you will get your boarding pass. Upon landing in Haikou here is what will you do: upon your landing in Haikou the first thing that you will do will be to fill out arrival card. You will tick the box on the arrival card where it is written - transit. After that you will perform automatic fingerprinting. With a filled out arrival card and a fingerprinting receipt you will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets, filled out arrival card and fingerprinting receipt. This is all free of any charge. After a short check you will be granted a temporary entry permit and then you will cross the immigration, collect your luggage and perform new check-in and drop-off the luggage for your flight to Melbourne. When you are done with that you will proceed toward exit immigration and to your gate for your flight to Melbourne. Maybe you will have some time to shortly visit Haikou by leaving your luggage at the luggage storage, but this is a detail that you will decide about. The rejection of US authorities to grant you a visa has nothing to do with this journey. Have a nice journey.
