About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flight to Japan with a layover in China

My route is set from Turkey to China Pudong Airport, then from Pudong to Hongqiao Airport, and finally to Tokyo. I am a Turkish citizen. Will I need a transit visa to travel between the two airports in China when I land?(Between Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport)
I cannot find up-to-date information on the official websites regarding the 24-hour visa-free transit. The visa agencies I contacted say that I need to obtain a transit visa. Your site has the most recent information. Could you please share the sources you used for the information you provided? This way, I will be able to gain detailed knowledge on what I need to do.Thank you.

Tuba, the first and the most important detail is that you do not need any kind of visa because your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Your total transit time in China is shorter than 24 hours, so there is no reason to be worry about. You will do the following in the exact sequence. When you perform check-in in Türkiye you will declare that you are flying to Tokyo via China under 24 hour visa free transit. In that moment you will present your flight tickets to the check-in staff. After a short check, you will be allowed to board Shanghai bound plane. Upon your landing in Shanghai (Pudong) the first thing that you will do will be to fill out arrival card because you will have to collect & change the airport and re-check your luggage and for this reason, you will simply have to formally enter China. You will tick the box on the arrival card where it is written - transit. After that you will perform automatic fingerprinting. With a filled out arrival card and a fingerprinting receipt you will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets and along with arrival card and fingerprinting receipt. This is all free of any charge. After a short check you will be granted a permit and then you will cross the immigration and head to collect your luggage. When you clear all the formalities, you will take (by far the best option) Airport Link Line train that connects Pudong to Hongqiao airport and vice versa. It is just about 40 minutes of ride. When you arrive at Hongqiao you will perform usual formalities, cross the exit immigration and head to the gate of your flight to Tokyo. This is something that you can take as granted. You have a full right to perform all the mentioned details absolutely visa free. Literally thousands are doing this on a daily basis on different Chinese airports. Have a nice journey.
