About:Visa on Arrival

Shenzhen visa on arrival

I am holding a single-entry visa for Hong Kong. I'm Vietnamese
My travel plan is as follows:

I will first stay in Hong Kong for 3 days.

After that, I plan to cross the border at Luohu Port (罗湖口岸) to apply for a Shenzhen visa on arrival and spend 2 day in Shenzhen.

The next , I will take a ferry from Shekou Port directly to SkyPier at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

From SkyPier, I will check in for my flight with HK Express back to Taiwan.

Since I will use the SkyPier transit service and go directly to the airport without entering Hong Kong again, I understand that my single-entry Hong Kong visa is sufficient, and no additional Hong Kong entry visa is required.

Can you please confirm i can take Shenzhen visa on arrival?

Your understanding is correct, but the main issue here is the fact that nobody can guarantee that your visa Shenzhen visa application will be successful. In other words, when you leave Lo Wu segment (operated by Hong Kong immigration staff) your single entry Hong Kong visa will be cancelled and in the case if you do not successfully obtain a Shenzhen VOA you will find yourself in a legal limbo, between the two sides and without a right to go to either of them. You have to be aware that the success rate of obtaining of Shenzhen VOA for Vietnamese citizens is relatively mixed, so a caution when you attempt to do this is a must. In other words, you are technically eligible, but nobody can guarantee a success. In reality, if you arrive well prepared with Shenzhen accommodation booking proof and with a proof that you will take a ferry to HKIA and with a presentation of your HKIA to Taiwan ticket, you will almost certainly be successful, but there is always that tiny fear that something could go in the wrong direction. In any case, you are informed that you are legally and technically eligible, but you also run a tiny risk to not to be granted a Shenzhen VOA. I would say that your chances are very good, but it will be up to you if you can bear a possible unsuccessful outcome. In any case, if you decide to proceed with your travel plans, I wish you luck and a wonderful journey.
