About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Lhr-Pvg-Hkg

We will be travelling from the Uk to Shanghai on British passports. Our stay in Shanghai is 3 nights and then We fly on to Hong Kong for 5 nights. Would the 144 hour visa apply to us. Thanks.

Under the condition that your flight LHR - PVG does not have a landing of any kind in Hong Kong, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. Also, I encourage you to use correct terminology. It is 240 and not 144 hour visa free transit because 240 has replaced 144 roughly 9 months ago and it is not a visa, but a visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind at all. It is not that I want to patronize you or something else, but with correct terminology you will not create any misunderstanding and you do not need any stressful situation, especially with check-in and similar processes.
