About:How to Apply for a China Visa

Do I need a Visa if going to Shanghai only for less than 7 days

Hello, I'm accompanying my wife on her business trip where we are coming from the United States to Japan at first, then onto China and will be there for only 5 days returning back to Tokyo and then back to the United States. Do I still need to apply for a visa?

Yes, Mike, you need. You can make a detour in HK to form a qualified route for China’s 240h visa free transit if necessary, that is Japan – Mainland China – HK - Japan. In this case, you don’t need a visa.
