About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24h Transit for Iranian national

Hi, I'm an Iranian national with residence in Japan, planning a trip from Tokyo to Moscow via a transit in Beijing. I will have about 12 hours of layover at Beijing and my question is, am I also eligible for this 24h visa free transit as an Iraninan passport holder? If not, could I at least stay inside the Beijing Capital Airport without the transit visa? Appreciate your help!

Behi, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. It is, however, true that nobody here can guarantee that you will be allowed to exit the airside (transit area) of Beijing airport, but you should try to do it in any case. So, upon your landing in Beijing, the first thing that you will do will be to fill out arrival card and to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets. Your application that is free of charge will be reviewed and the official will tell you a decision. If positive, you will head to the immigration and then to the city to enjoy your time on your own. If negative, you will just remain airside and wait for your flight to Moscow. Hopefully, you will be successful.
