About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Am I eligible for 24h TWOV

Hi, I'm from Turkey and me, mum and brother will be flying to Seoul via Beijing (PEK airport). We have 14h layover in Beijing towards Seoul route and return is also 14h layover like that. IST - PEK - ICN , ICN - PEK - IST. My mom (she's a senior) has special passport and she's visa free to China, but me and my brother have regular passports. I read that I can be eligible for TWOV and watched a couple videos on YouTube. I like to take mum to Mutianyu Great Wall of China on our way to Seoul and on our return leg to Forbidden city, that's why I'm asking if this is allowed. Temporary permit for each leg for me and my brother, I assume. 谢谢

Part 1:

Yes, your idea/plan is definitely possible as I have previously told to your compatriot Aykut on this website (just take a look bellow few posts). Here is what will you do:

1. I strongly advise you to fill out arrival card online, ahead of your departure from Turkey at National Immigration Administration website ( https://en.nia.gov.cn/ ).
2. Upon your landing in Beijing you will head to 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. This application is free of any charge. Here you will also present your accommodation booking confirmation if you plan to have an overnight at one of Beijing hotels. In case if you have not filled out arrival card online, you will do it also after your landing. Please, remember that in such a case, you will first fill out arrival card and then head to 24/240 hour visa free transit counter. Also, before you approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter you will perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine.
3. When you have been granted a temporary entry permit you will head to the immigration and then to the city to enjoy your time on your own.

As far as your mother is concerned, I do not understand what does special passport mean, but if you say that she does need a visa to enter China - fine. Just be careful and double check this detail.

Here I have to warn you that the issuing of a temporary entry permit (a permit that allows you to exit the airport and to enter the country) is not a passenger right, but more like a bonus that is offered to those having a long transit times, having an overnight layovers and those traveling with small children or disabled persons. In your case, you will almost certainly be granted a temporary entry permit, but I wanted to inform you about its nature and the fact that the issuing is not a right, but a bonus offered to certain groups of passengers in transit on case by case basis. I wish you a wonderful journey.
