About:Visa on Arrival

Traveling with my daughter

My daughter is 12 and we have US passports. We are in HK and would like to go to shenzen on the 24 or 5 days pass. If I have her dad email me a copy of her birth certificate and print it out will this be good enough for her visa?

Only her passport is required for the visa application, Tammy.

It would be fine even without that birth certificate, but you can bring it just in case and you will present it only if asked. You should just take care to be at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing at 08:30 in order to beat the queues when the visa office at Luohu facility opens (it opens at 09:00). You will fill out the form, an official will take a photo of you and you will pay 130 CNY for each of you by card only. When/if asked, you will declare that you travel to Shenzhen for a day visit. Once your visa is granted, you will enter Shenzhen. When your visit to Shenzhen is over, you can take any border crossing and any mean of transport, high speed train included, to return back to Hong Kong.

Ok wonderful. Thank you for your response. If we wanted a 5 day visa are those harder to get?

Actually, you will immediately get a 5 days VOA. There is no a single day (24 hour) VOA. You will get a 5 day VOA regardless whether you plan to stay in Shenzhen just for a couple of hours or 5 days.
