About:Tiananmen Square

Reservation for Tiananmen Square?

As far as I understood, visiting Tiananmen Square is for free! What do you need a reservation for if you do not intend to visit the Tower?

Yes, you need to make a reservation at least one day in advance as long as you plan to enter the square to visit. FYI, if you have the entry ticket to Forbidden City, then you can enter the square without a reservation.
