About:

From Japan -> China -> USA visa-free?

Hello, we are a family of 6 from California. In March 2025 we will fly to Japan for one week, then fly to China for one week, then return to the USA. Your answer to Ingrid on 25/1/7 indicates we will not need visas. Thank you! However, please can you clarify, you say: "Before boarding the flight to Chinese Mainland, one should have the onward ticket to the 3rd region ready in hand." We have tickets on China Southern Airlines (CZ) from Osaka, Japan to Beijing, China. Do you mean that we must present our China-USA plane tickets to the CZ agents before we board our plane in Osaka? Does the CZ agent then assure us that we will be admitted to China visa-free once we arrive in Beijing? Thank you very much for clarifying! We are excited to take tours once we arrive in China.

James, you understand it perfectly right. Yes, when boarding the flight from Japan to China, you need to present the flight ticket from China to US.

The airline and immigration are two different entities though. The success boarding does not mean successful entry into China. But entry-deny seldom happen once you get onboard. China is doing everything to welcome true visitors. So I don't think you need to worry about this.

One more thing, when in China, you can travel only within the 24 transit provinces/regions under the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, not all Chinese Mainland. But the good thing is all popular travel destinations are included, like Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Guilin...

Wish a you nice trip in China~
