About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is my route elibigle for the 240-hour visa-free transit?

Hello, with this exciting news that China is extending the original 144-hour to 240-hour visa-free, I am planning to visit China, specifically Shanghai and Shenzen. I understand that A and B has to be two different countries (or regions outside of Mainland China. So I'll be traveling from the US > Shanghai > Shenzen > Hongkong then I'll fly back to the US from Hongkong. Is this route eligible for the 240-hour visa-free?

Thanks

Yes, your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit, however, certain conditions have to be fulfilled:

1. Your flight from US to Shanghai is not allowed to have a landing in Hong Kong just before Shanghai.
2. Even before your departure from US, you will have to buy a train or ferry ticket from Shenzhen to Hong Kong. When you book one, you will print it out and have it at hand as a printout as your proof that you will be really in a transit. You will be asked to present that ticket in both US and upon your landing in Shanghai.
3. You will really have to take exactly that train or ferry you have bought your ticket for, for your Shenzhen to Hong Kong transport.

This is it. Have a nice journey.
