About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

15 Day Visa Free or 144 hour visa

HI, I will be travelling from UK > Guangzhou > New Zealand. I have booked a hotel in Guangzhou for 5 days. I want to visit Macau as a day trip. Will that be possible? Can I pick and choose the 15 day visa over the 144 hour visa as there are lesser restrictions. Is it possible to walk across the Zhuhai - Gongbei border to Macau and back to China on the 144 hour visa? I have a New Zealand passport. Your help is much appreciated.

Ken, you should just forget about 144 hour visa free transit because you as New Zealand citizen can enter and stay in China visa free for a period of up to 30 days (30 days visa free will replace 15 days visa free starting from November 30 of this year). You can do exactly everything you have planned based on the fact that you carry a passport that is under the Chinese visa waiver program. Also, you are allowed to make a visit to Macau in the way as you have planned. You should be totally relaxed because your visit to China will be very similar, in terms of formalities, as if you are visiting Thailand or some other visa free country. Enjoy in your journey.
