Formally, Vietnamese citizens are eligible for 5 days Shenzhen VOA, but I have to tell you that they had relatively mixed rate of success or in other words, you can never be certain whether you will be granted a visa or not. If you ask me, it would be more relaxed if you only could apply for a regular Chinese visa in advance.
If you decide to proceed with a Shenzhen VOA, you should arrive at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing preferably at 08:00 or the latest 08:30 because the visa office at Luohu opens at 09:00, so you will experience less queues. All you need to bring with yourself is your passport and you will fill out the form upon your arrival at the border crossing. The official will take a photo of you and you will pay a visa 130 CNY by card. If successful, you will just proceed to Shenzhen to enjoy your time on your own. If you decide to go with a Shenzhen visa i wish you the best of luck.
