About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit through HK airport

Hi there,

I'm a Vietnamese passport holder, planning to transit at Hong Kong, and the tricky part is that my 2nd flight from Hong Kong to my final destination is a standby ticket (as I'm an airline worker and I have staff travel incentive to get cheap standby ticket). Would I still be able to get the 24 hours visa free to stay within the airport to collect my luggage and check in to the next flight?

Or do I need to have a visa to do so given I'm unable to provide a confirmed next flight?

Thanks

Ted, I have to inform you that this forum is reserved/dedicated only for 24 hour visa free transit that is valid for mainland China only and not for Hong Kong. Hong Kong has very different set of rules as far as visa regime is concerned. However, having in mind the fact that Hong Kong requires a visa for the citizens of Vietnam, I consider your idea impossible to accomplish because you are allowed to stay in transit area only and you cannot do that by traveling on an unconfirmed tickets. In any case, I encourage you to check twice before you decide to start your journey.
