About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Visa Requirement??: Sydney to Guangzhou, then to London

Hello, I will be traveling with the following itinerary:

Step 1: From Sydney to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN). I will stay in the transit area of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for 9 hours. I do not plan to leave the transit area.

Step 2: After 9 hours, I will fly from Guangzhou (CAN) to London.

I am an Iranian passport holder. Do I need a visa to stay less than 24 hours in the transit area of CAN airport?
Thank you.

No, you do not need any kind of visa because your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit.

Since you have mentioned that you do not intend to leave the airport, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspection/control, but you will just walk from one to the other gate. There will be just a security check on your path between two gates.

This is valid if your itinerary was booked under one ticket, of course. If not, in that case you would have to apply for a temporary entry permit upon landing in Guangzhou to exit the transit area (airside), to collect your luggage and perform new check-in in order to proceed to your next flight. Even this option is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit, but since you have mentioned that you will not leave the airport, the first part of my answer is perfectly sufficient for your needs and you do not need to perform any single formality. Have a nice journey.
