About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

From Canada to Manila- 72 hours layover in Beijing

Hello
I'm traveling from Calgary, Canada to Manila international Airport and I plan to stop over to Beijing for 3 days(72hours) before I head out again to my final destination in Manila. I am Canadian.
Am I eligible for the 72 hours or 144 hours travel free Visa. Do I qualify for the Visa free travel? can I apply at the airport?
Thanks in advance

Hello,

One problem is the fact that there are no direct flights from Calgary to Beijing, so I do not know what will be your immediate airport before Beijing. OK, I will assume that if will be some other airport in Canada or in, say Japan and/or South Korea.

If I am correct and you do not have any additional landing in mainland China beside Beijing, you are definitely and undoubtedly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Beijing area and you do not need any kind of visa. 72 hours is non existent subject in Beijing because it was replaced with 144 hour visa free transit many years ago.

So, since you are definitely eligible for visa free travel, the first thing you will do upon landing in Beijing is to approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter and apply for a temporary entry permit. This is free of any charge and here you will present your flight tickets and your accommodation booking confirmation for at least the first overnight. After a short check, a permit will be granted and you will head toward immigration and then toward the city to enjoy your time on your own. I wish you a pleasant journey :)
