Macau Visa

Hello!
I have valid one entry visa to China and currently located in Guangzhou for bussines trip for few days.
I have a ticket to departure from Hong Kong airport. Is it possible to receive a visa on arrival for one day to Macau ( have confirmation from the hotel for one night stay) and one the next day leave Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal to Hong Kong ?
If I will be on border checkpoint and it will happens that I will not receive the visa on arriva, l may I return to China and cross the border between China and Hong Kong?
