About:China Transit Visa

Hi, I am a South African with a return ticket to SA from Shanghai but I will be flying in from Japan

It is two seperate flights on different airlines, do I need a transit visa?

If the layover is no more than 24 hours, then you are free of visa as per the 24-hour visa free transit. If over 24 hours, then you're also eligible for the 144-hour visa free transit and you will need your hotel reservation and itinerary in China to apply for it.
