Yes, they are. The best port of entry is definitely Shekou port in Shenzhen. In other words, the best thing you can do for you is to take the first ferry (speed boat) from Hong Kong to Shenzhen in Shekou and to apply for a 5 days Shenzhen VOA at Shekou visa office. The price is 275 CNY and all you need is your passport. When you reach visa office, you will fill out the form and the officer will take a photo.0
