Travelling from Hk to guangzhou

Hi, I land in HK Airport at 1630hrs. How much time should I leave before I hop onto the high speed train?
Where do they check the visa? is it at HK or when I arrive in guangzhou.?

It is better to leave at least 2 hours. It takes about 30-40 minutes to transport between the airport and the train station by airport express or bus. If you need to collect your luggage, then more time is needed. The visa will be checked at West Kowloon Station.
