About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

HK to Shanghai

Hi - I’m travelling from London to Hong Kong for 5 days then on to Shanghai for 4 days before returning to the UK from Shanghai via HK….do I need a visa for Shanghai?

So your itinerary is London - HK - Shanghai - HK - UK? Then it is not eligible as HK - Shanghai -HK is a return trip. You do need to obtain a China visa in advance.

An eligible route is like this: HK - Shanghai - London.
