About:Do I Need A Visa for Guangzhou If Traveling from Hong Kong?

Do I need something other than the 24 hour transit free visa?

Hi there,

I have a long layover in Guangzhou and would love to try and do a day trip straight to Hong Kong on the high speed rail. I want to know if I can do that on the 24 hour visa free transit if my final destination is Taiwan?

If not, what kind of visa do I need to be able to visit Hong Kong during this time?

Many thanks!

High speed train is not eligible for 24-hour visa-free transit and it is only for flight and ferry (only Nansha and Guangzhou ports are available). If you itinerary is UK - Guangzhou - Hong Kong (by air or ferry), then this part is eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit. You can go to Taiwan from Hong Kong directly. If you want to depart from Guangzhou to Taiwan, then you have to go back to Guangzhou by air, which is the second part using 24-hour visa-free transit.
