About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Can I arrive into Shanghai on a plane and leave to Hong Kong on the train?

Thank you for this useful article. I am an American citizen and am arriving into Shanghai by airplane (KUL-PVG) and then I am planning to take the train to Hong Kong to fly to the USA (HKG-JFK). The full itinerary would be Kuala Lumpur - Shanghai - train to Hong Kong - New York City. Does this work for the 144-hour transit visa?

You can arrive into Shanghai under 144-hour visa-free transit but you cannot take a train from Shanghai to Hong Kong. You can fly from Shanghai to Hong Kong using the 144-hour transit.
