Transit in Guangzhou - is a visa required to leave the airport?

Hello all,
Flying with my family from Kathmandu, Nepal to London, U.K. with a transit in Guangzhou, China. We are British passport holders with one booking reference/e-ticket number.
Transit time in Guangzhou is 24 hours long. Given we would like to exit the airport during this time, is a visa required? If so, please provide information regarding visa information.
Thank you in advance.

No, you just need to get the 24h temporary entry permit at the immigration counter if the layover is no longer than 24 hours, if longer, you need to apply for the 240h visa free transit at the same place with your ticket to London. Anyway, you don't need a visa.
