About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Can I get a 144 hours visa free transit on arrival in Guangzhou Baiyu Airport?

Can I get a 144 hours visa free transit on arrival in Guangzhou Baiyu Airport? I hold an Australian passport My itinerary options are:

Option 1:
1. Sydney to Guangzhou - 9:45pm to 5:30am on 11 April 2024
2. Guangzhou to Bangkok - leaving Guangzhou on 16th April 2024 at 12:40pm
3. Singapore to Guangzhou to Sydney (connecting flight from Guangzhou to Sydney) - leaving Singapore on 26 April 2024 at 1:30pm and arriving in Guangzhou on 26 April 2024 at 6:00pm, then leaving Guangzhou on 26 April 2024 at 9pm and arriving in Sydney on 27 April 2024 at 8:30am.

Option 2:
1. Sydney to Guangzhou to Singapore (connecting flight from Guangzhou to Singapore) - leaving Sydney on 10 April 2024 at 9:45pm and arriving in Guangzhou on 11 April 2024 at 5:30am, then leaving Guangzhou on 11 April 2024 at 8:40am and arriving in Singapore on 11 April 2024 at 12:30pm.
2. Bangkok to Guangzhou - 11:20am to 3:25pm on 20th April 2024.
3. Guangzhou to Sydney - 8:05am to 7:25pm on 26 April 2024

You can use both options and enjoy absolute visa free transit.

Your first option has 144 hours during your first landing in Guangzhou and during your return you will stay at the airport and you will not cross the border control, but just a short security check between two flights.

Your second option has the first landing in Guangzhou a stay at the airport for a short time in order to connect to the onward flight, again, without a border control with just a short security check. The second landing is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

Both itineraries are fine and when you exit, you are allowed to explore entire Guangdong province. You are advised to print out your flight tickets and also your hotel booking confirmation for at least for the first overnight.
