Airport from Forbidden city

Hello, what is the best way to get from the Forbidden city (Gate of Divine Prowes) to Beijing International airport please?
Do we have take a bus to get to the nearest metro station or is it in walk distance? From which station it is best to go to the airport?

The nearest metro station is not very close and you'd better take a taxi to Beixinqiao Station and then take Airport Express Line directly to the airport. The Beixinqiao Station is about 4 km away from the Forbidden City.
