About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Train or air

Hello,
I am planning to travel from Hong Kong to Beijing either by train or air and apply for the 144 hour transit to explore the area. If getting the train, how and where do I apply for this?
And which option would you recommend? I would like to see a scenic journey on my way into Bejing if possible!
Thank you, Kersha

Actually, taking a train is not an option any more. The only option to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit when traveling on Hong Kong to Beijing segment is only by air. By the way, you have to be aware that your next destination after Beijing has to be some other country/eligible territory other than Hong Kong. Simply speaking, you cannot do the following:

Hong Kong - Beijing - Hong Kong

However, you can be creative and take a route, for example:

Hong Kong - Beijing - Macau

Please, take care, when flying on any type of visa free transit the immediate points before and after mainland China have to be in different countries or eligible territories.
