Visa validity start

I am planning a trip to different countries in Asia. On March 3rd, I'm flying to Indonesia for two months. I won't land in China until May 3, where I want to stay for three months as a tourist. Which visa - and when is the best time - should I apply for?

You need to apply for a tourist visa (L visa) but I'm not sure if you can get such a long duration. You should apply for it about 1-3 months in advance.
